Description

GACC Midwest’s tailor-made apprenticeship program ICATT (Illinois Consortium for Advanced Technical Training) addresses the needs of companies in Illinois. Their challenge finding a skilled workforce led to the design of this unique training program – a company driven approach to workforce training.

Following the structures and worldwide recognized standards of the German Dual Model, this three-year program combines on-the-job training at companies and theoretical training at a college for the professions of Industrial Maintenance Technician, CNC Machining Professional, Freight Forward & Logistics Agents and many more.

Together with the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association, and Harper College, GACC Midwest formed the Illinois Advanced Apprenticeship Consortium (IAAC) with the purpose to scale the unique ICATT apprenticeship program all over Illinois.

Description

The development of high quality jobs and a trained talent pool for local employers are important components of our regional economic development strategy. The Greater Peoria EDC is excited to introduce their new apprenticeship program called Central Illinois Center of Excellence for Secure Software (CICESS).  CICESS is the first Secure Software Apprenticeship Program in the nation. It was developed by local employers in partnership with Illinois Central College.

This program was created by local employers concerned about the availability of secure software development professionals in our region.

Description

Dream It Do It Illinois is the home page for you to learn about the great careers you can have in manufacturing. Whether you’re a student, parent or teacher you’ll be able to find out that careers in manufacturing are rewarding, and high paying, too.  Illinoisans often hear that we’re “at the top of the bad list, or the bottom of the good list.”

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

That’s why the IMA Education Foundation helped to build a coalition of manufacturers and educators, along with other workforce professionals to bring Dream It Do It Illinois to life. Each has a stake in its success—and so do you.

IAAC Funding

IAAC is funded by a generous grant from the US Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship.  The Department provided $175 million in grant funds for the American Apprenticeship Initiative. This initiative is intended to provide a catalyst in supporting a uniquely American Apprenticeship system that meets our country’s particular economic, industry and workforce needs. American Apprenticeships (also referred to as Registered Apprenticeships) are innovative work-based learning and post-secondary earn-and- learn models that meet national standards for registration with the U.S. Department of Labor (or federally recognized State Apprenticeship Agencies).

The Illinois Advanced Apprenticeship Consortium

The Illinois Advanced Apprenticeship Consortium (IAAC) is a collaboration between the Illinois Manufacturers Association Education Foundation, the German-American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, the Greater Peoria Center of Excellence for Secure Software and William Rainey Harper College.  In addition, community colleges in all regions of Illinois are partnering with IAAC apprenticeships to expand opportunities for men and women to train for highly skilled careers in the manufacturing and information technology sectors.  Working with local employers, the consortium plans to create 600 new apprenticeship positions linked to Illinois Pathways, the state’s career pathway initiative, to create a seamless transition for students and workers into apprenticeship and employment and further on into community college and higher education.
